Just ahead, is a perfect view of Molokini Crater.Your guide is a Certified Marine Naturalist and trained in CPR and First Aid they will share interesting sea turtle facts as you paddle alongside the Makena and Wailea coast, enjoying breathtaking views of the West Maui Mountains, Molokini Crater, and the nearby islands of Kaho’olawe and Lana’i.

Once we arrive at Turtle Town, you’ll find dozens of independent reefs strung throughout this popular cleaning station for Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles. Turtle Town is often filled with tourists as well as turtles, but your guide will lead you away from the crowds to snorkel with sea turtles in a less frequented, but just as stunning, snorkel spot tucked among the varied reefs.

Sea turtles love the underwater caves and arches dotting these reefs, including the popular dive sights, Five Caves and Turtle Arches, and you’ll find plenty of resident sea turtles year-round – if you know where to look. Your guide will show you the hidden hangouts of these peace-loving, long-time residents.

Fun Fact: Did you know a Green Sea Turtle can Live to be Over 80 years old??

Turtle Town is usually protected from Maui’s summer trade winds during the early mornings, making this an ideal summer snorkeling location. The shallow, sunlit reefs and calm water conditions are perfect for families with small children and first-time snorkelers, but Turtle Town offers a delightful experience for ocean enthusiasts of all skill levels

For your Maui Coral Gardens Kayak Tour and Snorkel, your guide, a Certified Marine Naturalist, will give you a brief water safety and paddling orientation before launching your kayaks from Olowalu Beach. Along the way, you’ll enjoy stunning views of the West Maui Mountains and learn interesting facts about sea turtles and other marine life.

Sandy bottoms mixed with patches of vibrant coral make Coral Gardens a favorite year-round snorkel spot for visitors to Maui. Once you jump into the warm waters, you’ll be immersed in an underwater world streaming in vivid color and bursting with tropical fish everywhere you look

Fun Fact: Maui has 30 miles of white, red, and black sand beaches, 80 beaches in total and has more miles of accessible beach than any of the other Hawaiian Islands.

When you’re ready, your guide will lead you from this shallow water playground into slightly deeper water and a turtle cleaning station, where you’ll discover Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles and an abundance of other fascinating marine life.

Because this snorkel location can sometimes get a bit windy, the Coral Gardens Kayak Tour and Snorkel is best suited to older children and adults who are comfortable in the ocean.

Want to snorkel Molokini? Most people take big, touristy snorkel boats, but not us – we paddle there! The Molokini Challenge Kayak Tour is not for beginners or the faint of heart. But if you’re looking for a challenge, we’ll go there. Here’s how it works.

We meet at Makena Landing for a water safety and paddling orientation very early in the morning. It will probably still be dark. You’ll get instructions and we’ll go over our game plan before pushing off from the landing and setting course for Molokini Crater.

Fun Fact: Over 4,000 people visit Molokini island a year for snorkeling.

Gliding across a glassy surface, we’ll watch the sky lighten, turning glorious shades of purple, orange, and red as the sun slowly rises over Haleakala. You’ll drink in views only available by sea or from neighbor islands. After a healthy 3.5 mile paddle, we’ll arrive at Molokini Crater before the tourist boats do for a private snorkel in the usually crowded crater.

If conditions allow, we’ll paddle around to the backside of the crater to soak in the breathtaking view of its solid stone, wind and wave-swept cliff. It’s a sight very few ever see and one you’ll never forget. The paddle back is the challenging part of the Molokini Challenge Kayak Tour. But don’t worry, our guides promise that no matter how tired you get, we’ll get to dry land.

Our private Whale Watching Kayak Tours allow you to enjoy a quiet, intimate whale watching experience all your own. We think December through April is the best time to visit Maui, and the whales think so too. Balmy weather and warm, tropical waters draw majestic humpback whales from their cooler summer feeding grounds near the Arctic to give birth and teach their baby whales just off Maui’s shore.

But this magical season also brings tens of thousands of tourists each month who come for the same thing – whale watching. Don’t settle for being crammed onto a catamaran or shuffled onto a giant whale watching boat with hundreds of other people. Take a private whale watching kayak tour and get closer to our precious Humpback whales without disturbing them, like a massive boat and a loud engine can.

We’ll paddle out on kayaks to watch these gentle giants play and communicate in their natural environment. Without a noisy crowd or engine, you’ll be able to hear them exhale as they spout water high into the air. We might see common whale antics like pec slaps, fluke slaps, spy hops and breaches. Sometimes we’ll see a pod of several male Humpback whales competing for a female swim by, showing off and splashing.

Fun Fact: The humpback whale was given its common name because of the shape of its dorsal (back) fin and the way it looks when the animal is diving.

On our private whale watching kayak tours, we often encounter mother whales with their delightful babies and escorts. And since your tour is tailored to you and your time schedule, we can sit out on the water and calmly watch them for hours without disturbing them.

Every trip is filled with different, wonderful things, and although we never quite know what to expect from the whales and other marine life, you can count on having an incredible, one-of-a-kind experience with one of Maui’s best guides.

4 Top Reasons Private Kayak Tours Are The Best

  •  Undivided attention – Public group kayak tours can get crowded. With just one guide for up to 14 people, your voice can easily get lost in the crowd. Paddle Maui’s private kayak tours supply you and your adventure partners with your own designated guide for the personal attention you deserve.
  •  Personalized details – Group tours are usually cookie-cutter affairs, with pre-planned agendas and a one-size-fits all approach. Not here. Paddle Maui’s private kayak tours personalize your experience based on your specific needs and wants (within reason, of course).
  •  Timing – With Paddle Maui’s private kayak tours, you decide how much time you want to spend paddling and how fast or slow you want to go, or how long you want to snorkel, or if you don’t want to snorkel at all. And if you just want to float for awhile, that’s what we’ll do.
  •  Everyone can kayak  Private kayak tours are tailored to meet each individual’s needs, so literally everyone can do it. Whether your a total newbie, an expert paddler or anywhere in between, we’ve got the perfect kayak tour for your skill level and physical fitness. Whatever your age or level of function, we’ll get you safely out on the water and give you the opportunity to have the time of your life!
